Project AsPIRE (Asian American Partnerships in Research and Empowerment) was a CHW intervention designed to improve hypertension management and cardiovascular disease risk factors among Filipino Americans with uncontrolled blood pressure (BP) in New York City (NYC). Participants in the intervention group received four group-based educational sessions delivered by a trained CHW and four monthly one-on-one visits. Participants in the control group received only the first educational session. Primary study outcomes included increased BP control, decreases in systolic and diastolic BP, and changes in appointment keeping at 8-month follow-up.
