The Smoker Navigator Program is a direct service offered at Asian Americans for Equality in partnership with NYU Langone Health's Community Service Plan. It is a bidirectional program to help Chinese-speaking smokers quit smoking by using navigators to educate smokers on the benefits of quitting and to promote cessation services. The navigators receive training to coach current Chinese smokers about ways to quit. The program lasts about 1.5 months. While the program is targeted to Chinese smokers, cessation services are also provided to non-Chinese individuals. In addition, navigators conduct outreach activities and education workshops to increase awareness about the danger of environmental tobacco smoke and the importance of creating a smoke-free home.
