The INCLUDE study evaluates a social media-based intervention that adapts the Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) for Chinese immigrants, incorporating community health worker support. This research addresses the type 2 diabetes (T2D) burden among Chinese immigrants in the U.S., exacerbated by social determinants like language barriers and low health literacy. By implementing a culturally relevant, multi-level intervention, the INCLUDE study aims to create a model for effective diabetes prevention in underserved communities. The INCLUDE study is a three-year randomized controlled trial involving 150 participants with prediabetes, split into control and intervention groups. The intervention group will receive 2-3 culturally adapted DPP videos weekly for 12 weeks, along with biweekly phone calls from bilingual staff. Participants will also receive Chinese produce for 10 weeks. Assessments of weight, self-efficacy, dietary habits, physical activity, and food insecurity will occur at baseline, 3, and 6 months, with data analyzed using splined linear mixed models.
